READING OF THE NAMES - HONORING SERVICE AND SACRIFICE
Thank you for your willingness to volunteer for the Reading of the Names at Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola.
WSRE Public Television is proud to host this initiative in partnership with Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola to honor the service and sacrifice of those men and women who gave their all during the Vietnam War.
During the seven-day period, beginning Sunday, May 20th, each of the 58,318 names inscribed in the black granite panels of The Wall South will be read. An opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 20th, at 1pm. Each day following, from 10am to 5pm, the names will continue to be read, culminating with the Memorial Day ceremonies planned at Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola on Sunday, May 27th, at 1pm.
Anyone may participate who is able to read a list of names. Family members and friends of those whose names are included on The Wall South, as well as veterans, civic organizations, businesses, schools, active-duty military and patriotic citizens, are all encouraged to participate. You may select more than one shift to read. Groups may participate together during the same time slot.
The parking and reading areas are accessible to wheelchairs, strollers, etc.
For more information, please see the FAQ section at the bottom of this form.
We look forward to your involvement in this event and will see you during your scheduled shift(s) at Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola, located at East Romana Street and Bayfront Parkway in Downtown Pensacola.
